Food: Wimi Coconut Ice Cream

There has been a craze for coconut ice cream after some videos popped up on Facebook showing the dessert being served along roads in Thailand.

Link from @DallasFood Youtube Channel
In Singapore, you can recently find this dessert at pasar malams (night markets) and the first one I tried was back during the Ramadhan bazaar at Geylang.

The Singapore style was to have it with lots of sprinkles :D
Me and my sister were running some errands at Clementi and i wanted to get some supplies from Art Friend. So how awesome it was to find a coconut ice cream shop after we did our shopping!

COCONUT + ICE CREAM = HEAVEN IN THE MOUTH. lol.

Wimi! Cute name
I know there are a lot of jokes about the West side of Singapore but here you'll also find some of Singapore's best food and interesting places to visit! Furthermore, we have our own mini Orchard Road at Jurong East already with all the popular brands such as H&M, Uniqlo and TopShop.
My sister posing with the fridge filled with many small coconuts.
The weather was quite hot and humid today so there was a bit of a queue during lunch hour. We took this opportunity of waiting in line to snap some photos of the shop. The shop was really small but it didn't really matter as it's more of get-and-go kind of concept.

All the more we should drink coconut water :)
The coconuts they used were the small baby coconuts kind which i personally preferred to drink from. The flesh or meat from these coconuts are usually more tender and sweeter than their bigger counterparts. So who says bigger is always better? ;)

There were other coconut desserts but what we were aiming for was the Traditional Thai Coconut Ice Cream. At $4.90, it is at a much steeper price compared to the $3.50 one i had at Bazaar Geylang.

They don't have soft serve for now but they have gelato for the same price instead :)

Normal toppings cost 50¢ while the Premium toppings cost 80¢. There is a more extensive range for you to choose from at the counter.

The price includes 2 scoops of coconut ice cream with 3 normal toppings and one small cup of coconut water. The normal toppings include the ones listed above and also others such as ice jelly, pineapple and nata de coco. For the premium toppings which cost 80¢ each, you can also choose lychee, pomegranate and sea coconut.

Excited! hee
There were around 3 persons in the queue in front of us but service was quite fast and before long it's our turn to order. I let my sister choose her favourite toppings. The guy asked me if i wanted the 'normal' or 'stronger' ice cream. I asked him back, "Which is nicer?" and in the end he said, he let me try one scoop of each. :'D
Where is my ice cream?????

Our 3 Normal Toppings: Grass Jelly, Peanuts and Nata De Coco

Review: The coconut water was so good as a thirst-quencher but my sister doesn't like it. It is quite an acquired taste for some. For the ice cream, I'm not too sure which is the stronger flavour but there is certainly a difference between them both. One tasted milkier while the other seem to have more coconut bits. I would recommend for you to also get one scoop of each to try both variations.

Hope you like this post and try it out if you're in Clementi.

There are so many new shops popping up in the area as well such as Kowloon Express, which is a halal Dimsum restaurant and Toasties, the halal version of Subway. We will also review about them soon so do bookmark our page and share it with your friends :D

Exploration: Paddy Hills Cafe

Psst. This is not a food review.
Located at South Buona Vista, Paddy Hills is a newly opened cafe. I was excited because it was so near to my workplace at Science Park plus.. I have been seeing on instagram that they have a funky art wall too!
The exterior looks simple and welcoming.

The interior
The interior was cosy and since we reached around 10am on a weekday, the whole place almost belongs to just us!

We're not coffee experts but they have a few coffee blends for you to choose from.

The Asian Brick ($18) - Meant to be shared for 2

The ambience was cosy and we spent a few hours just chatting and spending our morning together. Those are the perks of working shifts for the both of us, we get to enjoy breakfasts and brunches together if we're both not working :)
The lighting is perfect for selfies! :D
So that's for the cafe, what about the art wall which i mentioned about earlier on?

Spot all the food!
I just had to pat the kitty in an awkward position. lols

  And lastly, pictures of us!

It was a wonderful experience for the both of us and since it is close by, we might just visit again! Do show us if you took any selfies here too!

Food: McDonald's Create Your Taste

My burger creation!
Today was the first time I created a burger for myself at Macs! If you're wondering where you can do this, there are currently 2 outlets in Singapore which you can do so. One is at JEM in Jurong East and the other is in Safra Yishun.
Create your taste step-by-step

Check out the video:

Heh i look young right? I was playing with this before the food arrived.
http://how-old.net/
The process of ordering is very simple and most likely you'll be guided by a helpful McDonalds staff. :) (I was told that the Swiss cheese has a nutty taste, the Colby cheese is creamy and the Pepper Jack is creamy too but with a bit of spicy kick to it.)

You don't even have to go to the counter to collect your order.
You will get a tracking device in which you're supposed to place on your table (there's a sensor underneath every table) so that they will know where to send your food.
We did the mistake of putting our tracking device by the windowsill haha. noobs.

You could add on $2 to get it as a meal. Look at how the fries were served!
Prices start from $8.95 (ala-carte)
and if you're adventurous, it could fetch be quite expensive considering it's for a mcdonalds burger.

The receipt. I only added mushrooms to 'make it tastier' which costs an additional $0.60.

Food will be sent right to your table. Macs is so hipster now, reminds me of a cafe.
Overall, i think it was yummy! Even my picky fiancé loves it so it was really good. I didn't really have to order the set but i just wanted my photo to look good. :p oops

Dissection of my burger, lol.

If you can't decide what to order, you can also try one of their signature creations:

I would recommend anyone to try it at least once and see if you like it! :) i hope that macs offer more variety in the meat choices so that my friends who don't eat beef could enjoy creating their own burger as well. Heh.

And if you're feeling extra hungry, be like this guy:

Food: Eighteen Chefs @ JCube

There are some days in which we crave for something extra cheesy. The super shiok feeling you get when you bite into a pizza and the cheese stretches like there's no tomorrow. But today, we're sharing one of our favourite restaurants which is affordable, delicious and of course, famous for their cheesy baked pasta and rice!

We have frequented Eighteen Chef's outlet at Tiong Bahru in the past, but the outlet is closed for now. Not to worry, they have a total of 8 outlets in Singapore (CLICK HERE to view their other locations)

Found a newly opened restaurant in JCube - perfect for those living in the west!
Eighteen Chefs have quite an extensive menu from western food to Asian cuisine. You can browse through their full menu HERE. I was very sure of what I wanted to order because of my cheese craving. :)

Soup of the day - Mushroom Soup
Our mushroom soup arrived first. It somehow tasted a little like Mee Soto soup for me. :D Maybe I've got weird taste buds but the soup wasn't bad. Slightly oily and watery though.

His Frozen black and my ice lemon tea in very cute mugs
Frozen Black is basically Root Beer Float with chocolate ice cream and whipped cream. We both felt that it would be much nicer if they used vanilla ice cream for the root beer float instead. Chocolate ice cream would probably taste better with milky drinks.

Photo from their website "Be Your Own Chef"

You have to write your orders on a slip of paper, just follow steps 1-4 accordingly and you won't be wrong! Also, if you ordered an additional top-up ingredient (Step 4), you would be able to add on ANOTHER additional ingredient of the same price or less with no extra charge :D

My cheesy baked rice!
What I ordered:
Student Special
Step 1: Cheese-Baked Rice
Step 2: Spicy Garlic (added extra spicy under remarks)
Step 3: C (Mushrooms)
Step 4: Beef Slices + Scrambled Eggs

Together with home-made ice lemon tea and soup of the day, my meal set totalled to $11.80 in total which is a great price :D

Root Beer Battered Fish & Chips (Student Price: $13.80)
He ordered their Fish & Chips, after student discount it costed $11.80 ($2 off seh!). The root beer batter used ensured that the fish was really crispy on the outside. His main was also served with a generous side of assorted greens.

I was in full concentration...
Love their wall cartoons
Their outlet in JCube is bright and vibrant. I especially loved their wall designs which was quite an entertaining read. (I love looking at and reading infographics!!) The restaurant is spacious and it had a great ambience. However, we both felt that the music was a bit too loud for normal conversation.

:D JCube has tons opportunities for selfies
Overall, we had a great time at JCube's Eighteen Chefs. The vibrant and noisy restaurant makes it easy to have light conversations with lots of laughs (no one would notice you LOLing). And after filling up my tummy, of course I felt like the Happiest Person. I just had to take a photo with this sign :D

I would definitely come here again given that it is so near to home! Plus my sisters will really enjoy the food and it will also be less painful for my pocket because of their student discounts. :p
